The TEKNOFEST Aerospace and Technology Festival took place in Şanlıurfa, Türkiye, from 30 September to 4 October 2026. The 11th Istanbul International Inventions and Innovation Fair (ISIF’26) was held as part of the festival.
Nicat Alizade, Director of the Center for Commercialization and Transfer of Technologies under the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Aygun Ahmadova, Deputy Director of the Center, participated in the events.
Held under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye, ISIF’26 was organized by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA). The fair’s main objective was to bring together inventors, researchers, universities, technoparks, startups, investors, patent professionals, manufacturers and relevant government institutions on a single platform, facilitating the international exhibition of inventions, the exchange of experience, the development of international cooperation and the expansion of commercialization opportunities.
Panel sessions held during the fair addressed the role of intellectual property in innovation and commercialization, support for startups, opportunities for protecting inventions internationally and bringing them to market, as well as the international intellectual property tools offered by WIPO to innovators. In addition to the protection of inventions, the presentations and discussions highlighted the importance of their evaluation by partners and investors against actual market needs, as well as closer cooperation between universities and technology transfer offices.
The Center’s representatives explored the inventions and innovative technological solutions showcased at the event, learned about universities’ technology transfer and commercialization practices, and exchanged views on opportunities for future cooperation with technology transfer offices and other participants in the innovation ecosystem.
The experience gained and contacts established during the visit provide a foundation for expanding cooperation with universities, technology transfer offices, research institutions and innovation organizations in Azerbaijan and abroad, as well as for organizing joint training and exchange programs. This cooperation will contribute to supporting technology commercialization and market access in Azerbaijan, strengthening university–industry links and developing the technology transfer ecosystem.
